Eight lawyers from Cornwall have featured in an independent national guide to the legal profession.
Stephens Scown LLP, which has offices in Truro and St Austell, received tier 1 rankings in the 2015 edition of Legal 500 across three areas: family law (for the eighth year running), inheritance and trusts disputes, and commercial litigation whose team includes Truro-based Mark Stubbs specialising in contract disputes.
Other Cornish lawyers recommended in the guide include corporate and commercial partners Christian Wilson and Gavin Poole – the team advised Cornish Orchards on the sale of its cider business to Fullers. The guide notes the team’s expansion and that it has “a strong presence in the renewable energy sector”. The agriculture team, led by Phil Reed, is also recommended.
The firm has the highest ranked environment team in Cornwall with the guide noting that the firm has “particular expertise in the mining, minerals and waste industries, and the renewable energy sector”. Chris Tofts is recommended.
Another area for which the firm is recommended is social housing, with “particular experience acting for rural housing associations”, where Truro-based Hilary Pitts and Keith Wright are featured.
Robert Camp, managing partner of Stephens Scown, said: “Legal 500 is a useful independent guide to the legal sector and it is pleasing to see that we have performed strongly in Cornwall.
“We are delighted with these results which are the result of the huge importance we place on client service. Partners and staff work with great enthusiasm and commitment all year round to meet our clients’ needs. We’re absolutely committed to maintaining our proud record.”
Stephens Scown has over 270 staff, including more than 50 partners, across its offices in Exeter, Truro and St Austell.
