Chairman's Report - March 2015

St Austell Bay Chamber of Commerce - AGM

Wednesday, 25th Mar 2015

Just about a year ago today, a new team for the St Austell Bay Chamber of Commerce was elected and they started a journey, one that few of us had formal training for, we did our best, but most of all had passion to help move our business community forward. Today I'm delighted to say that this chamber has emerged into a very positive, united and proactive organisation, one that strives to help it's members, and help evolve the St Austell business community. To name a few of the chambers achievements,

  • Monthly open meetings
  • Bi-Monthly breakfast meetings
  • A Monthly Business Networking Event
  • Communicated relevant business information to members
  • Promoted many events and business news
  • Generated a large amount of money for the Mayors charity (Acorn Academy, a St Austell school for children excluded from mainstream schools)
  • Undertaken a parking assessment, a local business survey, a business related hustings event and much more

Membership has increased by 46% over the last 12 months

There has been a 23% increase in unique visitors to the website and on the website as a whole a page is currently being viewed every 4 minutes. The member profile pages, which are currently being viewed once every 30 minutes, is now being viewed at 10x the rate of the website in it's 1st month. Annually, Unique Visitors to website: 16,568

Amount of pages Viewed: 45,077

Members Viewed: 4,905 This ultimately shows the importance of updating the website with current information whether it be events, news, offers or your member profile.

Thank You, It's been a pleasure working with the current chamber officers and management team, they have all voluntarily dedicated large amounts of time, therefore could I ask that we all show our gratitude and appreciation.

It's time for a new journey to start and I hope in 1 years time this Chamber of Commerce will have a similar positive story to tell, I hope it'll become one of the best business support groups in Cornwall and that it has worked hard towards improving the economic fortunes of the area. Thank you all for being part of it and please continue to engage.

Dave Halton, Chairman.
