Make it Work is a project developed by Cornwall Education Business Partnership and United Response, which aims to support young people (17 – 30) with a learning difficulty or disability (LDD) to gain essential work experience and opportunities for employment. Our aim is to recruit local small employers (fewer than 250 employees) who are willing to provide quality work experience tasters for our young people on the programme and introduce them into the world of work.
All the young people on the Make it Work project have received training from United Response and are ‘work ready’. In addition, the young person would be accompanied by their Job Coach initially, to ensure a smooth transition and the least disruption to the business. The aim of the project is to give young people the chance to try different things to help them discover their own interests. The placements would need to be 8 hours a week, ideally over 8 weeks. We can also offer free training to businesses as part of this partnership, which include in house mentoring training and the offer of being part of our Platinum Provider scheme.
