Two Golds for St. Austell Chamber Members

St Austell Bay Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the wins of two of its members in two separate award shows on the same night, (Thursday 27th November).

Tony Goodman, director of hospitality consultants, Tevy Ltd, won the Award for the Creative Project of the Year alongside Sams Cornwall, at the annual Hub Awards held at Merchants Manor in Falmouth, for their collaborative project: Sams at Carlyon Bay.

The Hub, Cornwall’s Dynamic Business Network, supported by projects financed by ESF and ERDF Convergence, is just 11 years old. A mere baby in terms of business groups, but it was developed specifically to support those new to business (or young people) and the Hub Awards celebrate the best of Cornish business talent.

We were the only St Austell business shortlisted, and I’m proud that we could demonstrate just how innovative and creative our area can be given the right opportunities.”

The same night, in the inaugural Cornwall Manufacturers Group Awards, held at the Penventon Hotel in Redruth, where Peter Moody of St. Austell Printing Company won the Business Leadership Award.

The Cornwall Manufacturing Awards recognize the achievements of Cornwall manufacturing sector of which there are approximately 1,300 companies employing in the region of 19,000 and accounting for £7.3 billion of Gross Value Added in Cornwall.

“I’m not someone who likes the limelight, so I was surprised to find I’d been nominated, said Mr. Moody, “However, this type of thing is good for St. Austell as a whole. Once St. Austell is recognized for having leaders, the whole of our business community starts to be taken more seriously,”

“Celebrating successes such as these are good for the businesses themselves in helping them to raise their profile among their peers,” said Jessica Milln, Secretary of St. Austell Chamber, “they are also good for our profile too. I’ve been actively encouraging our members to enter these Award Events, or nominate others, wherever and whenever they can. The Chamber exists to support business, and we want to shout about excellence and innovation in our area, and to encourage new business to look at what St. Austell can offer.”
