Cornwall Food & Drink, in partnership with Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, launched the Choose Cornish Awards in 2013. The awards celebrate the businesses in the county who go to the greatest lengths to ‘buy local’ and make a real difference to the community and economy of Cornwall in doing so. This is a unique way to applaud those working in the catering, hospitality, tourism, service provider and retail sectors in Cornwall for supporting fellow Cornish businesses.
This year, thanks to support from First Great Western, there are two additional categories helping us to recognise the efforts of even more businesses.

CHOOSE CORNISH CAMPAIGN
Developed by Cornwall Food & Drink and Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, the Choose Cornish campaign is dedicated to championing local produce. Our aim is to spread the word about ‘buying local’ and generate millions of pounds for the local economy.
Judged by an esteemed panel of business experts across seven categorie.

- Best Cornish Business Collaboration (sponsored by Cornwall Chamber of Commerce) - for a Cornish business that can demonstrate, through a partnership approach, how it has contributed to the Choose Cornish campaign – by working with other businesses, identifying and achieving shared goals and mutual benefits.
- Public Sector (sponsored by Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership) – for an organisation that can demonstrate how they have contributed to the Choose Cornish campaign through an initiative involving the public sector. This could be a business that supplies the public sector or someone operating within the public sector who works with Cornish suppliers. We’re looking for a Champion who has truly embraced the Choose Cornish philosophy.
- Choose Cornish Every Day – a local retailer embracing the Choose Cornish philosophy and demonstrating a commitment to supporting local suppliers and encouraging customers to do the same.
- Real Cornish Breakfast Campaign (sponsored by Visit Cornwall) – a business or chef who has gone the extra mile to ensure their breakfast exceeds expectations in quality, choice and service, whilst also championing local sourcing.
- Truly Cornish Café Trail (sponsored by Cornwall Food & Drink) – Cafés that pride themselves on sourcing ingredients locally, with an emphasis on great food and service. The winner will be chosen from the cafes featured in the Truly Cornish Cafe Trail.
- Truly Cornish Clotted Cream Tea (sponsored by Trewithen Dairy) - we’re looking for those places where owners, managers, chefs and staff have gone the extra mile to ensure their Cornish clotted cream tea exceeds expectations, a business that goes to great lengths to support Cornwall’s economy by championing local produce. A very special Cornish clotted cream tea with an emphasis on freshly prepared, quality ingredients and fantastic customer service. Open to all hospitality outlets. Cafes featured in the Truly Cornish Cafe Trail who requested their cream tea was highlighted, will automatically be entered.
- Champion of Champions Award (sponsored by First Great Western) - the business bringing about a real change in our relationship with local sourcing, championing Cornish produce/suppliers and embracing the Choose Cornish campaign to the fullest. Chosen from all the category winners.
