Cornwall Local Sustainable Travel Fund (LSTF) – Opportunities for Local Businesses
What is Cornwall LSTF?
The Cornwall LSTF programme aims to deliver sustainable transport solutions that support
economic growth while reducing carbon emissions. These solutions are geared to supporting
jobs and business through effectively tackling the problems of congestion, improving the
reliability and predictability of journey times, enabling economic investment, revitalizing
town centres, and enhancing access to employment. The Fund provided by the Department
for Transport also provides the opportunity to take an integrated approach to meeting local
challenges and to delivering additional wider social, environmental, health and safety
benefits for local communities.
What is on offer to local businesses?
The business engagement project run by Parsons Brinckerhoff on behalf of Cornwall Council
involves delivering Personalised Travel Planning to employees within participating
businesses, free of charge, based on a team of travel advisors providing one-to-one
interviews of 10-15 minutes duration. The outcome sought is to inform, support and gently
nudge people out of their cars for at least some of their journeys to work. The local travel
advisors, armed with information about public transport, car sharing, walking and cycling
routes, discounts and incentives, have been trained in motivational interviewing techniques
and will be engaging with employees of businesses across Truro, St Austell and Newquay and
Bodmin. The delivery team will come and speak with your first to develop and tailor their
approach to your organisation and circumstances.
The county- wide Travel to Work grant gives businesses in Cornwall the opportunity to
apply for funding to support sustainable travel measures at the workplace. This can
compliment the Workplace Travel Plan programme, which takes a holistic approach to
transport to and from site. More information is provided on the link below -

employees commenced in November 2013 and will be complete by the end of February
2014. The Travel to Work grant is open to applications received between 1 December 2013
